"Salaaaaaaaaam-E-Ishq"
Pheew...Evr imagined watching a 3 hr 45 minute marathon of a movie for a 10 pm show at Innovative Multiplex and returning home to write a review...Sounds crazy rite ??...Well in a way I am...Nyway u mite have already got the reason behind the extra 'a' s in the otherwise "Salaam-E-Ishq"...Yup it indicates the length of the movie which supercedes KANK...So if u thought KANK was a torture then be prepared for this one (just for the length)...The movie as such is not as boring as KANK but it could have done away with some of the song sequences just to reduce the length although the music is gud !!
I really liked the way Nikhil Advani has interlinked 5 + 1 different love stories into a single co-incidence better known as "Salaam-E-Ishq"...Itz actually 5 stories with an additional comic one thrown in between which makes it 5 + 1.
The movie is gud despite the fact that it is lengthy since it keeps u interested for the maximum part...The only places where I was feeling sleepy (...read yawning) was during the dance sequences and some relatively sad moments baring which it really did keep me interested (quite strange)...!!
As per the chemistry goes John and Vidya, Govinda and Shannon Esrechowitz ('The Firang' aka 'Su' in "Rang De..."), Akshaye and Ayesha, Anil and Juhi, Priyanka and Sallu AND "Sohail and Isha"...all hit it off pretty well baring a bit of overacting at times by Sallu and Akshaye !!
Coming to the movie - The title is pretty much suggestive as this is a 'Tribute to True Love'...And if u already know that 'Love is Blind'...'Love Hurts'...and 'Love Unites'...thn u probably know the concept and base of this movie...But these concepts alone dont make the movie watchable as these are tried and tested typical Bollywood masala stuff...There is something else about this movie which will keep u interested...One is the interlinking of the stories and the second is the comic angle to the whole plot despite emotional moments which will keep u glued...!!
Acting wise John, Vidya, Juhi, Govinda (surprised) , 'The Firang', Ayesha and Anil give sound performances although Priyanka and Akshaye could have been better...Wont reveal much about the plot since u will get to know most of it in the morning newspaper reviews...!!
All in all a decent movie and my suggestion (am not a perfect critic as yet) is 'Go and Watch It if u can sustain It' and better avoid the late night show...!!
Coming up - Reviews for Departed, The Black Dahlia, A Good Year, Babel, Blood Diamond...Till then "Salaam-E-Ishq" :-)

With most of the newspapers giving a 3 and less rating to this movie, you've given a pretty review to the same, which would want us to go and see it for yourself.
But I dont want you to reply for this. But I really want you to check why you deviate so much from the general opinions? Even I do deviate. So we are on the same boat.
But, personally when you give a review, it should be impartial, whether you liked the movie or not.
And best of luck to your coming reviews.......
Bye
